fiberAmerica, an innovative manufacturer of consistent, high quality and environmentally-friendly cellulose fiber insulation products, today announced that its co-founder, George Day, has been selected to speak on a panel at a White House event titled: “Weatherization Drives Technological Innovation and the Home Performance Industry”.
Allentown, PA (PRWEB) December 09, 2013
The event, sponsored by the White House and the National Association for State Community Services Programs (NASCSP) will be held on December 9 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Day will be one of the speakers on a panel focused on “DOE/WAP Investment as a Catalyst for New Technology Partnerships.” He will share how the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) was beneficial for fiberAmerica during a tough economic time for the industry, the value of cellulose to the program, how WAP benefits private industry and the U.S. economy, and what can happen if the program is eliminated.
“The Weatherization Assistance Program has not only benefited the low-income families that it serves, it has also provided a significant boost for the U.S. economy during a poor economic climate,” said Mr. Day. “Our entire manufacturing supply chain, as well as our customer base, is almost 100% based in the U.S. WAP has helped to create jobs and has raised the bar for contractors on education and building science. It is an important program that needs ongoing funding in order to further support the U.S. economy.”
WAP was created in 1976 to assist low-income families who lacked resources to invest in energy efficiency. Today, it works to reduce home energy costs and improve the health and safety of low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
